TSR 1/14/20 CBB Picks

Tuesday Games

1-Ohio St vs Nebraska (6:30, FS1)

Nick: Ohio State—There’s no way they lose this game right? Ohio State was regarded as one of America’s best teams just a couple of weeks ago. Major rebound at home against Hoiberg’s Huskers.

Sam: Ohio State-- Gotta agree with Z here, if OSU doesn’t win this, the panic button is full blast.

Zach: Ohio State- Will they finally get back on track? If they don’t tonight, it could be a super long rest of the season because that means there is something really wrong. Fortunately for the Buckeyes, they play Nebraska, the perfect team to get going again on.

2-Clemson vs Duke (7:00, ESPN)

Nick: Duke—The Blue Devils are the class of the ACC, a league that is looking like it’s worst form in nearly a decade.

Sam: Duke-- They may not lose a ACC game

Zach: Duke

3-VCU vs Dayton (8:00, CBSSN)

Nick: Dayton—VCU showed this weekend against Rhode Island that there are some flaws to their game. This Dayton team however, has looked truly elite throughout the season.

Sam:  Dayton-- What a great mid-major game! The Flyers are just so good, and the Rams have struggled more than I think anyone thought they would. Michigan transfer Ibi Watson is tremendous off the bench for Dayton (Probably the best 6th man in the nation)

Zach: Dayton

4-Northwestern vs Iowa (8:00, BTN)

Nick: Iowa—Welsh-Ryan is the least electric home environment in the Big Ten, if not the six major conferences. I mean there’s a reason it was the one place in the Big Ten that didn’t see a home win in the December games. Iowa wins a “road” game in the Big Ten by a large margin.

Sam: Iowa-- I would agree with Zach again. Sure, you can never trust big ten teams on the road, but when it’s in Evanston, there’s almost an asterisk.

Zach: Iowa- You don’t really know right now in the Big Ten picking the road team, but come on, it’s Northwestern.

5-Wisconsin vs Maryland (9:00, ESPN2)

Nick: Maryland—The Terps turn it around with a big road victory. The Kohl Center is a tough place to win, but Maryland has the talent to pull it off.

Sam: Wisconsin-- Maryland is easily the most confusing good team to figure out. Badgers have been on fire as of late.

Zach: Wisconsin-After getting worked by Iowa, it doesn’t get any easier for the Terrapins, as they go into the Kohl Center. Never an easy place to play and the struggles continue.

6-Villanova vs DePaul (8:30, FS1)

Nick: Villanova

Sam: Villanova-- Blue Demons are gonna drop to 0-4 in Big  East play… it’s as if I said something about how the hype around them needs to simmer

Zach: Villanova

7-Kansas State vs Texas Tech (8:00, ESPN+)

Nick: Texas Tech—With all due respect to K State nation and the Jacob Pullen fans out there, they are struggling mightily this season.. Tech gets a road victory.

Sam: Texas Tech-- I hate the Big12 for this ESPN+ deal...

Zach: Texas Tech- The Red Raiders need a win after dropping two to two Top 25 ranked teams. K State has lost three in a row and it becomes four.

8-Texas A&M vs LSU (7:00, SECN)

Nick: Texas A&M—Still seeming to be a head scratcher why Buzz Williams took this job, here is the win that starts the turnaround.

Sam: LSU

Zach: LSU

9-West Virginia vs TCU (9:00, ESPNU)

Nick: West Virginia—Remember when TCU was rolling under Jamie Dixon?

Sam: West Virginia

Zach: West Virginia

10-Davidson vs Richmond (7:00, ESPNU)

Nick: Davidson—This is a huge game for two teams that have at-large potential with a strong A10 season. Cats make a statement at home with their backs against the wall.

Sam: Richmond-- Disappointing season continues for Bob Mckillop’s team.

Zach: Davidson

Upset:

Nick: Wake Forest over Va Tech (+3.5)

Zach: Western Michigan over Bowling Green State (+4.0)
