TSR 1/21/20 CBB Picks
Today’s Games
1-Villanova vs Butler (7:00, CBSSN)
Nick: Butler—This team is good, but they are struggling lately. Here’s a chance for a quality win on the road.
Sam: Villanova-- 2 losses last week for the Bulldogs and this isn’t exactly an easy bounce back game. Wildcats make it 3 straight L’s for Butler
Zach: Villanova- Huge road test for the Bulldogs after dropping two games, how can they bounce back?
2-Kansas vs Kansas State (7:00, ESPN2)
Nick: Kansas—The Wildcats will be overmatched in this game, despite being able to hang in there during most games at Allen Fieldhouse. Jayhawks win, but will they cover the 15?
Sam: Kansas-- K State is BAD
Zach: Kansas- Aint gonna be a close one. Kansas State is not good and to make it worse, it’s at Allen Fieldhouse
3-Northwestern vs Maryland (7:00, FS1)
Nick: Maryland—There isn’t a worse Big Ten Team or a home field advantage. Terps easy.
Sam: Maryland-- Road struggles are well documented for BIG teams, but come on… it’s Northwestern
Zach: Maryland- Northwestern is so bad
4-Purdue vs Illinois (7:00, ESPNU)
Nick: Purdue—I’m not sure there is a more polarizing team when it comes to home/away splits. Boilermakers get a marquee victory at home against Illinois.
Sam: Purdue-- I feel like Purdue could jump on the Illini early and keep em down. Mackey is a very tough place to play.
Zach: Purdue- Illinois averages just under 76 ponts a game and Purdue only gives up 59. At Mackey, I think Purdue’s will hold stronger.
5-Wisconsin vs Nebraska (9:00, BTN)
Nick: Wisconsin—The Badgers are able to carry the momentum from those late game runs against MSU into a comfortable win in the Kohl Center.
Sam: Wisconsin-- Badgers bounce back in a big way from Friday’s loss at MSU.
Zach: Wisconsin- Nebraska is so bad and Wisconsin seems to be hitting some sort of stride, despite the loss to Michigan State
6-Iowa State vs Oklahoma State (8:00, ESPN+)
Nick: Iowa State
Sam: Iowa State-- Battle for last place in the Big 12.
Zach: Iowa State- I really thought the Cyclones would be better this year, but at 8-9, they find themselves at second to last in the Big 12. Lucky for them, Oklahoma State is even worse.
7-Marquette vs St. John’s (9:00, FS1)
Nick: Marquette—This is a game that Marquette cannot afford to lose if they want a legit chance at the NCAA Tournament.
Sam: Marquette-- Markus Howard goes off (again) and leads Marquette to a much needed win
Zach: Marquette- Markus Howard scores points, weird
8-Duke vs Miami FL (9:00, ESPN)
Nick: Duke
Sam: Duke
Zach: Duke- After dropping two straight games, they get another game at Cameron against a team they previously beat by 33.
9-Kentucky vs Georgia (7:00, ESPN)
Nick: Kentucky—Anthony Edwards is a strong player, but there isn’t enough on his supporting cast.
Sam: Kentucky
Zach: Kentucky- Could be a bit of a chippy game based off of what we saw in their last matchup. Anthony Edwards will try his best to keep the Bulldogs in the game, but Kentucky wins big in the end.
10-San Diego State vs Wyoming (11:00, CBSSN)
Nick: SDSU—The undefeated run continues for the Aztecs.
Sam: SDSU
Zach: SDSU- Nobody is talking about the lone undefeated team left as the best team in the country. I understand there are question marks because of the schedule, but maybe it is time to put them in the conversation.
