TSR 2/21/20 CBB Picks
1. Quinnipiac vs Canisius (7:00, ESPNU)
Nick: Quinnipiac- The Bobcats already took the first games in this series, a 90-73 ball game. I don’t see a reason to believe this will be any different, as Canisius has lost three straight.
Sam: Quinnipiac
Zach: Quinnipiac
2. Kent State vs Buffalo (7:00, ESPN2)
Nick: Buffalo- The Bulls aren’t going to win the regular season title in the MAC, but they could certainly make some noise in the MAC Tournament. They extend their winning streak to four games with an impressive road win.
Sam: Buffalo- I miss Nate Oats!
Zach: Kent State- Both having historically tough season, Kent State picks up a much needed win in the MAC East
3. Saint Louis vs VCU (9:00, ESPN2)
Nick: Saint Louis- The Rams are unravelling, losing three straight contests. Coming off of an emotional loss to Dayton, the road trip against the Billikens does not end well.
Sam: Saint Louis- VCU needs to turn it around
Zach: VCU
4. Oakland vs Milwaukee (8:00, ESPN+)
Nick: Milwaukee- The Panthers are still in the hunt for a three-seed in the Horizon League tournament, but they could also end up on the eight-seed line if they stumble. This is a huge weekend against 5-9 Oakland and 4-10 Detroit, as a sweep would solidify their case for a first round home game.
Sam: Milwaukee
Zach: Oakland
5. Cornell vs Yale (7:00, ESPN+)
Nick: Yale- The Elis are the favorite to win this game, and the Ivy League. This should be a blowout, even on the road.
Sam: Yale
Zach: Yale
6. Harvard vs Princeton (7:00, ESPN+)
Nick: Harvard- The Crimson are unbeaten at Lavietes Pavilion, a perfect 8-0. Princeton meanwhile, has struggled away from home with a 4-4 record. These trends continue, as the Crimson try to work their way into the Ivy League Tournament.
Sam: Harvard
Zach: Harvard
7. Detroit vs Green Bay (7:00, ESPN+)
Nick: Green Bay- The Titans are 1-13 on the road this year, and they have so many issues. Antoine Davis is an elite scorer, but Detroit does not have enough to get this victory.
Sam: Green Bay
Zach: Detroit- Wow are both teams bad….Antoine Davis can win a game on his own, and this is the case tonight at home
8. Iona vs Rider (7:00, ESPN3)
Nick: Iona- The Gaels beat Rider the first time around this season, and now they are at home. Iona’s shot at the regular season crown may be over, but they can certainly build momentum to work toward a fifth straight tournament bid.
Sam: Iona
Zach: Iona- Only because they are at home
9. Manhattan vs St. Peter’s (7:00, ESPN3)
Nick: St. Peter’s- The Peacocks have taken flight this year, and they are tied with Siena for the MAAC lead with five games to play. This team has a real shot to win their first regular season conference title since 1987 if they can win this game.
Sam: Manhattan
Zach: Manhattan- There was no doubt I was picking the Jaspers
10. Fairleigh Dickinson vs Long Island (8:00)
Nick: Long Island- I am really disappointed that LIU changed their mascot. When LIU-Post merged their athletic department with LIU-Brooklyn, we lost the Blackbirds nickname for the Sharks. Sharks? Really? On Long Island? Nope...
Sam: Fairleigh Dickinson
Zach: Fairleigh Dickinson
