TSR 2/7/20 CBB Picks
TODAY’S GAMES
1. Yale vs Harvard (5:00, ESPNU)
Nick: Harvard- This rivalry game has been the cream of the crop in the Ivy League as of late. I will take the experienced coach in Tommy Amaker to get this victory.
Sam: Harvard- Hard to believe that Tommy Amaker coached Michigan not that long ago.
Zach: Yale- Bryce Aiken hasn’t played since December 21 and it has really hurt the Crimson. I like the home team in the big rivalry game
2. VCU vs Davidson (7:00, ESPN2)
Nick: VCU- Davidson has struggled this season, and the Rams are a stellar team at Siegel Center. They are 12-1 at home, while Davidson is 3-5 away from home.
Sam: VCU- Davidson’s disappointment continues
Zach: VCU
3. Illinois vs Maryland (8:00, FS1)
Nick: Maryland- The Terps are surging, with five straight victories. This team looks as if they are peaking at the right time, and that continues tonight.
Sam: Illinois- Pivotal game in the B1G race, and I like Kofi and Ayo at home.
Zach: Illinois- Friday night, Top 25 matchup, the State Farm Center will be rocking. The Illini have defended home court excellent this year, putting up a 12-1 mark. I like the home team yet again in a Big Ten game
4. Buffalo vs Central Michigan (9:00, ESPNU)
Nick: Buffalo- A shoutout to former TSR guest picker Matt Seybert, who started his career at Buffalo. Home victory in upstate New York.
Sam: Buffalo
Zach: Buffalo
5. Northern Illinois vs Kent State (7:00, CBSSN)
Nick: Northern Illinois- A shoutout to Mark Montgomery, former Michigan State assistant. Making this pick for the Spartan Dawgs across the globe.
Sam: Northern Illinois- I really hope Monty can hold on at NIU, an all-time good guy.
Zach: Kent State- Only picking Kent State because of how ugly the NIU court is
6. Manhattan vs Niagara (7:00, ESPNU)
Nick: Manhattan- Niagara’s 2-11 road record is a major cause for concern. The Greg Paulus era has not started well for the Purple Eagles.
Sam: Manhattan
Zach: Manhattan- Go Jaspers!
7. Troy vs South Alabama (9:00, ESPN2)
Nick: Troy- I was excited that the Sun Belt was on TV, with a chance to spotlight their conference! And then I looked at the two teams playing, 6-7 and 5-8 in league play. I will take the Trojans at home in this game.
Sam: South Alabama
Zach: South Alabama
8. Cornell vs Princeton (7:00, ESPN+)
Nick: Princeton- Already 4-0 on the season in Ivy League play, and winners of six straight games, the Tigers try and keep pace or pass Yale (also 4-0) in the title race.
Sam: Princeton
Zach: Princeton
9. Siena vs Fairfield (7:00, ESPN3)
Nick: Siena- Remember the Fran McCaffrey Siena Saints basketball teams? Those were the days..
Sam: Siena
Zach: Siena
10. Columbia vs Pennsylvania (7:00, ESPN+)
Nick: Penn- Thankfully for Columbia, this isn’t at the Palestra. The Lions are 0-12 away from home. Their 5-1 home record is convincing, but I will take the Quakers on a three-game winning streak to move it to four.
Sam: Penn
Zach: Penn
