MKE Basketball: Tafari Simms Commits to the Panthers
Coach Pat Baldwin and the Milwaukee Panthers have landed another commitment on their basketball roster for the 2020-21 season. Once again, they have gone the JUCO route to land a player with two years of experience under his belt, and two years of eligibility to give Milwaukee.
Tafari Simms, a 6-6/212 sophomore forward from Hamilton, Ontario announced on his Twitter page that he will be taking his talents to Milwaukee to play in the Horizon League this year.

He had spent this past season at Western Texas College, located in Snyder, Texas. In 33 games for the Westerners, Simms made 31 starts and averaged 11.8 points per game. Last season saw Tafari shoot 48.2% from the floor. Additionally, on fifty-seven attempts from behind the arc, Simms showed his ability to stretch the floor by knocking down 42.1% of them. When it came to rebounding the basketball, Simms was no slouch either. He finished the year averaging 6.8 boards per contest.
Prior to his time at Western Texas College, Simms spent one year at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. In that one season, he averaged 9.3 points per game, and he shot 50% from the floor. Simms was also able to pull down 5.3 rebounds per game in 2018-19.
In terms of depth for the Panthers, Simms will now join Boston College transfer Vin Baker Jr, who is eligible after sitting out last year, as well as Courtney Brown Jr. at the small forward position. Simms' commitment now places twelve players on scholarship for Milwaukee, leaving them one more space to fill.
