Nick's Opinion: How the OK Conference Can Schedule to Limit Travel Outside of Gretchen Whitmer's "Regions"

Image
The MHSAA Football season is looming, with the first games set to take place within two months. There are already heavy concerns about playing games in the first place, but if they do go forward with the season, there will be additional concerns about making long road trips.  The state of Michigan's impact by the COVID-19 pandemic is different within the different "Regions" that Governor Gretchen Whitmer implemented, and they should be handled uniquely. One easy mitigation in the event that they want to play football, would be to limit the zones in which teams could play.  Michigan's Eight Regions (click on link for county breakdown) In the OK Conference, the 48 member schools for football are spread amongst several counties that occupy parts of Regions 2 and 3 (see map above). I think that the smartest move by Commissioner Haskins and the OK Conference AD's would be to limit contests to take place only against Region 2 and 3 opponents for the regular season, and ...

MSU Basketball: Max Christie Adds to Phenomenal 2021 Class

Michigan State basketball fans were truly hurting after the NCAA Tournament was cancelled back in March, as the Spartans were a legitimate National Title contender in Cassius Winston's final season. Since the offseason began however, things could not have gone better for Michigan State. Detroit Tigers: Projecting the 60-Man Roster

Image
The 2020 MLB season is officially back in action. After some miserable negotiations between the MLBPA and the owners, baseball has announced that they will embark on a 60-game season, set to start on July 24. The players will report to “Spring Training 2.0” on July 1, but an even more intriguing date for fans will be this upcoming Sunday, June 28. On that day, teams must inform the MLB which 60 players will be a part of their organization for the upcoming year, with that number including the active roster and the newly created “taxi squad”, which serves as the 2020 version of minor league rosters.   We decided to take a stab at determining who the Tigers’ 60-man roster would be. While some of these seem to be a no-brainer, others were a tough decision. (Note: All players listed A-Z in their position)   Key Decisions to Watch 1. Pitching Health—Michael Fulmer and Franklin Perez have been hampered with repeated injuries over the past few seasons. Do Al Avila and company ...

Image
This is the tenth article in the Best Logos series. We all give our picks for the best logo used by each MLS team, with a brief reason provided for some of our favorite choices.  As always, a shoutout to Chris Creamer's SportsLogos.net and LogoServer for providing us with the logo history! Eric: Just a general comment, I'm not a big fan of the soccer logos as a whole. The "shield" look just isn't great, yet everyone tries to do it. ATLANTA UNITED  Nick: Great team. Eh logo. It's too dark if you ask me... Zach: Just not a fan. It looks like a travel wresting logo. Eric: I like the color combination. This one is pretty cool. AUSTIN FC Nick: This is how you make a logo as an expansion team! Green and black is a great combo. Zach: LOVE the colors. Eric: When I think of Austin, the last thing I think of is a tree. Why do they decide to put a tree on there?! CHICAGO FIRE Nick: The Fire need to bring back this logo.  Zach: One of the classic MLS logos. Love the use...
