MKE Basketball: Jordan Lathon Transfers to Milwaukee

After a tumultuous offseason that saw players come and go, the Milwaukee Panthers' men's basketball team appears to have filled up their scholarship allotment. Per his Instagram, Jordan Lathon has announced that he will transfer from UTEP to Milwaukee.

Lathon is a 6-4/190 guard from Grandview, MO. He made 49 starts in his two years at UTEP, and he will make a key impact on the Milwaukee team once he is eligible. It appears that he will currently have to sit out a year, unless the NCAA amends the rules or grants him a waiver, but he will have two years of eligibility left after that.

In his most recent season at UTEP, Lathon averaged 5.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. His 1.8 assist/turnover ratio was second in the C-USA. The best game of his career thus far has to be his freshman outing against Rice. In that game, Lathon scored 32 points and hauled in 18 rebounds. Milwaukee area basketball fans may also remember his 2018-19 outing against Marquette, where he led all scorers with 26 points, and he also added six assists.

Prior to UTEP, Lathon was a four-star recruit out of high school, ranked amongst the Top 150 players nationally. He has succeed in the classroom as well, as he was named to the C-USA Academic Honor Roll in 2019, and he was also named to the Dean's List in the College of Business Administration.

It should also be noted that Milwaukee coach Pat Baldwin recruited Jordan Lathon to Northwestern when he was an assistant there. Lathon was set to go to Northwestern, before ultimately ending up at UTEP.

The Panthers now have allotted all thirteen scholarships, and without any additional mix-ups, their roster should be set for the 2020-21 campaign.
