MSU Football: Charles Brantley Becomes Latest Commit in 2021 Class

The Mel Tucker recruiting train continues to roll, as the first-year head coach has continued to pile up 2021 commits over the past few days. Today, he added another defensive player to the mix, when Charles Brantley announced on his Twitter page that he will continue his career at Michigan State.

Brantley is a 6-0/160 cornerback out of Venice, Florida and he is the third member of the 2021 class that will play defensive back, joining Gabe “Spida” Nealy and Antoine Booth.

Per 247Composite Rankings, Brantley is ranked as a three-star recruit and the #557 recruit in the country. He is Florida’s 76th overall prospect, and the 41st best cornerback in the class. Some recruiting outlets, such as Rivals, have Brantley heralded as a four-star recruit.

Brantley chose the Spartans over other potential suitors like Florida State, Indiana, Louisville and Maryland.

Coach Mel Tucker and his staff has now been able to recruit a pair of defensive backs out of Florida in this 2021 class, and he has shown an early recruiting presence in this state that will hopefully carry on during his tenure.

On the more fun side, Brantley has not let the COVID-19 pandemic slow down his workout regimen. He has posted some training videos on his Twitter page, and some have been quite creative!

On the field, Brantley has been a menace in the defensive backfield. He had eight interceptions on his Venice team last season, and these plays are part of his highlight tape shown below.
